A FRESH LOOK ON THE OUTERWEAR

As it gets colder, it can be tempting to throw stylish clothes out of the window and just wrap yourself in the warmest thing in your wardrobe. As for women’s outerwear, we all know the golden rule: the more your jacket or fur coat resembles a marshmallow, the more comfortable and warmer it is. However, this year it’s time to move this down jacket onto second place, as fashion and functionality work together in 2022. From a modest lined woolen trench coat to a practical raincoat and even a trendy cocoon coat, we’ve rounded up the perfect outerwear pieces to update your winter wardrobe. Whether you decide to invest in just one piece of clothing or buy an entire batch, these jackets, fur coats, down jackets and coats are sure to turn the cold season into your most chic period.

WHAT TO CHOOSE?

The winter season 2021/22 has prepared for us some trendy new items: quilted ankle-length coats with a waist band, down jackets and cocoon coats, fur coats made of eco fur resembling a curly lamb, short faux sheepskin coats with fur in bright colors from the inside and a neutral shade of beige on the outside, warm floor-length down jackets stitched with large squares, wrap jackets made of raincoat fabric looking like coats, waterproof warm jackets made of eco leather. You have plenty to choose from, and you don’t have to limit yourself to just one item: there are looks that fit the classic style, and there are those that require something special and unusual.

COAT IN WINTER: PROS AND CONS

An insulated woolen coat can be the perfect winter wear for a light frost: it will keep you warm, beautiful, and will match your favorite boots. The best option is a cocoon coat (due to its design, you can even wear an oversize hoodie under it, and this will not be noticeable) and a wrap midaxi coat with additional hidden buttons (due to the length, it will be warm in it, and the buttons will not let the cold wind get through to the body).

However, it has some drawbacks: the coat gets wet under heavy snow and at -15 it is no longer as comfortable as at +5. But this is a great option for mild winter, especially with a checkered print, houndstooth print or in a solid deep color.

HOW TO CHOOSE OUTERWEAR AND NOT RESEMBLE A CABBAGE?

First of all, choose not too voluminous sweaters or dresses that will be under such outerwear. A thin angora sweater or a woolen knitted dress is a great alternative to warm oversize clothing. Then choose a jacket or coat with a waist band: this way you can emphasize the waist and outline the silhouette at least schematically. Do not take short puff jackets if you have a large chest or a rounded tummy: they will only increase the volume of the top, making it disproportionately large compared to the legs. And try not to fall into acid colors: if you really want something bright, choose emerald, blue or light blue.
