THE JACKET AS A VERSATILE WARDROBE PIECE

The layered looks are becoming more and more popular, which means that you need to look at clothing items that complement the main set. A jacket is exactly that piece of clothing that can be put on over any piece, and sometimes even worn as an independent unit. Let’s see how to use it in the wardrobe and discuss the most successful looks.

VARIETY OF JACKETS

It seems to me that in terms of the number of different models and styles, the jacket is not much inferior to the dress: we will need a separate article to deal with all the variations. Therefore, now we are considering those jackets that will be undoubtedly popular throughout 2021.

BUTTON-DOWN JACKETS

First of all, there are single-breasted and double-breasted jackets. Let me explain just in case: a single-breasted jacket is fastened with buttons in one row (1, 2, 3 buttons or more if the jacket is long and looks more like a trench coat). The double-breasted jacket, respectively, fastens with buttons in two vertical rows. These are the most classic jacket models, they are mainly used in business suits and casual suits.

WRAP JACKETS

As a rule, these are jackets up to the middle of the thigh with lapels. They look great with dresses, especially with a sheath dress and a slip dress, and are also perfect for an outfit with a T-shirt or a turtleneck and a pleated skirt. In addition, such jackets can be worn as a light trench coat during cool summer evenings.

CAPE JACKETS

They are a perfect story for those who do not like stiffness in clothes. Cape jackets go well with a mini dress, a fitted dress, a set of a blouse and a pencil skirt. The main thing is to remember that the clothes under such a cape should preferably be tight-fitting, since the jacket will add volume to the hips anyway. In addition, if a trapeze dress, for example, is made of a stiffer fabric and holds its shape, then the cape jacket will also take this shape. By the way, pay attention to the eco leather jacket: such capes are trending this spring.

IS JACKET ONLY A BUSINESS STYLE?

Of course not, otherwise jackets would never have become such a popular wardrobe item. You can buy a jacket in a basic color and classic style and combine it with a dress, blouse and skirt for the office, as well as with a sequined top, eco-leather trousers or fringed jeans. Relaxed oversized pinstriped jackets or elongated linen jackets deserve special attention: you can roll up your sleeves slightly, put on a T-shirt or tank top, high-rise flare jeans, add sneakers, sunglasses, chains and a small handbag, and you have the perfect street-style look in your disposal.

Naturally, there are also such models of jackets that can hardly be combined with anything other than strict items. For example, a classic Chanel-style bouclé or tweed cropped jacket in a pastel shade would not go well with anything other than a skirt of the same color and fabric. But such models are rather an exception to the rule of versatility of jackets.

A JACKET DRESS

A jacket in the form of a dress is a bold and hot solution for lovers of mini length. As a rule, there are no lapels on it, but the V-shaped neckline and a wrap are retained, as well as decorative buttons. This dress is successfully combined with a leather belt, stilettos, massive chains and earrings. Be careful not to be stolen in such a delightful outfit!
