It’s time to get your warm clothes out of the closet – summer has turned to autumn again, and for the next few months we will have to put on several layers to feel comfortable. Outerwear is also an integral part of autumn looks, because the weather conditions in our country will no longer allow you to simply put on warmer hoodies: obviously, this is not enough. If you want to choose something warm and versatile for several cold seasons ahead, I advise you to stop with a coat. There are many varieties of autumn and winter coats suitable not only for classic looks, but also for more relaxed and informal outfits. Let’s pay attention to them today.
CHOOSE A STYLE
Here we have a place to roam: there are coats for every taste. The most successful choice, in my opinion, will be several models: a double-breasted jacket coat, a wrap midi coat with a waistband, an A-line coat with buttons, a zipped hooded coat and an oversized coat with buttons. A jacket coat, for example, can be either shortened to the beginning or middle of the thigh, or long (below the knee) with more massive lapels. Some models look better in solid colors (like a wrap coat in basic colors of milky, beige and gray or a short A-silhouette coat in brighter shades), and some will look better with prints (an oversize coat can be plaid or in zigzags, and double-breasted coat with lapels is good with herringbone, checks or houndstooth). Either way, pair any of these coats with laced-up boots, chunky heeled ankle boots, or high-soled sneakers for a casual look with matching tops and bottoms.
TYPES OF MATERIALS FOR COATS
Depending on what you like more, you can buy a women’s coat made of natural or artificial fabrics. Both of them have advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, coats made of thin woolen fabric or wool in the form of a thick plaid look more noble: you won’t feel cold in them, they are beautiful and will last a long time with proper care. However, it’s this “proper” care that’s the tricky part with a woolen coat: you’ll need a regular dry cleaning, a hand-held bag, and a record of even the smallest stains. If you choose a fashionable coat made of acrylic or a mixture of materials (acrylic, viscose, polyester, wool or cotton in certain proportions), this will allow you not to worry so much about its appearance: such a coat will be easier to care for. However, you need to choose carefully, avoiding cold materials.
SUITABLE COATS FOR WINTER
You can also choose a coat as outerwear for winter casual looks. If you take a light coat, you need an oversize one: in winter it will be cold in it, and you can wear a very layered and warm look under the oversize coat. Another option is a coat not made of wool and its artificial substitutes, but of quilted raincoat fabric. In such clothes, you will not get wet in the rain or snow, you will not freeze on a damp evening, and you will also hide from the wind. The length will also play into your hands: the longer the coat, the warmer you will feel.
