THE TRENDIEST COLOR OF THE SEASON

Each year brings us new discoveries, technologies, projects, and, of course, fashion trends. The length varies, styles change, a variety of materials, textures and prints become trendy. But one of the most important factors that determine current trends is the color. In addition to the timeless classics that are always in, every season we observe the emerging popularity of a certain color or several colors and shades. Therefore, in order to stay on the crest of a fashion wave and not get lost in a pile of new products, let’s analyze the trending colors of this spring and the year in general.

PANTONE COLORS OF THE SEASON

2021 surprised the fashion world with the fact that the Pantone Color Institute has chosen not one, but two main colors for it. Previously, the color of the year was announced at the end of December, and it was usually one bright, rich shade (I think everyone remembers coral red coats in 2019, ultraviolet fitted dresses in 2018, or tracksuits in classic blue in 2020). However, 2020 has added surprises, concerns and changes to our usual way of life. In order to reflect all the experiences we’ve had and to cheer people up for the next year, Pantone named Ultimate Gray and Illuminating (yellow) as 2021 Colors of the Year.

What does this choice mean for the fashion world? First of all, this is a ready-made popular color combination. Gray and yellow go well together: you can combine a gray dress with a yellow belt, handbag and shoes, wear a yellow longsleeve with gray checkered trousers and add a gray jacket or raglan tied around the neck on top. You can also create a look based on a yellow loose dress, complementing it with gray sneakers, a cape or a scarf. A gray coat goes well with a yellow brooch and a bag, and a yellow skirt can be complemented with a gray belt with a dangling drawstring.

Secondly, you have a great opportunity to replenish your basic wardrobe, because gray is one of the most versatile basic colors that can be combined with mostly everything. This year you can buy a dress, trousers, a sweater or even a coat in gray and versatile style, add them to your basic wardrobe and be sure that these things will not lose their relevance for the next few years. You will only have to set bright accents with the help of accessories and jewelry in the upcoming seasons.

A TOTAL LOOK AS A TIMELESS CLASSICS

I’ll tell you one more secret: looks compiled in different shades of the same color do not lose relevance this season. A total look in gray is a calmer, colder look. Gray knitted turtleneck looks very good in combination with high-rise woolen flare trousers, a flying cape coat, a bulky bag with a clear geometric shape and suede ankle boots with a stable heel. You can add a massive silver chain to this look – it’s a great choice for a strong lady. Well, if you decide to make a one-color look in yellow, I recommend focusing on the layering of the set and combining shades: a tank top with straps, a midi skirt, an elongated sleeveless vest, a scarf and a loose cape.
