MODERN FASHIONISTAS CHOOSE MIDI DRESSES

If the ladies who followed the fashion trends in the heyday of the English monarchy saw the modern variety of trends, they would be shocked not only by the styles, but also by their number in fashion. In those days, one style was considered fashionable for one season at court; now the number of popular models for the autumn-winter season definitely exceeds a hundred. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage at the same time: a variety of models gives us a lot of options to choose from, but sometimes our eyes are so wide that it can be difficult to decide.

In this case, we will analyze the trends in order. Today I want to dwell on the most basic style – a midi dress – and its varieties.

VERSATILE MEDIUM LENGTH

The midi dress is not a random trend for a couple of seasons: it is too comfortable and versatile to quickly disappear from the fashion horizon. A midi-length dress can be safely worn to the office, even if you have a rather strict dress code; it will look great in smart casual style, and in a more informal street version. In addition, the medium length is a rather arbitrary concept, including both dresses to the middle of the knee, and the length of the skirt just above or just below the knee: it turns out that in midi length you have a freedom of choice of about 15 centimeters.

SKIRT SILHOUETTES

This season, I advise you to buy a midi dress with a loose skirt: the silhouette of a pencil skirt with a maximum fit is not so relevant now. But a midi dress with an A-line skirt, flared or semi-flared skirt is a good choice for a basic wardrobe, as such trends will be popular from season to season. A wrap skirt (as a rule, in the style of a wrap dress with a belt) and a pleated skirt with a vertical or diagonal pleat also look good.

NECKLINE FEATURES

As for the top of the midi dress, here trends also tend to change. This autumn, take a look at square and inverted-trapeze necklines: they beautifully open the décolleté area, lengthen the neck and look more unusual than the standard round neckline. If you choose a straight sheath dress, pay attention to the keyhole with a button or a small triangular neckline with lacing: such a detail will become an accent on a strict midi-length dress. If you prefer a shirt dress or a jacket dress, you can’t do without a V-neck.

POPULAR COLORS AND SHADES

Depending on your color type, in the autumn-winter 2022/23 season, you can choose a dress in blue-gray, green, brown or warm dark red shades; the tone can be both bright and pastel. Shades of sage, lavender, jade and sky blue are popular; lovers of pink, yellow and orange colors will also have plenty to choose from for a midi dress for every day.
