It makes no sense to deny this fact: glitters and sequins have captured the fashion world smoothly and imperceptibly, and the trends of 2019 confirm that this tendency will stay with us at least for another year. Let’s see how they appeared, how they came into fashion and how to wear sequined fabric in order to look stylish and not vulgar.<\/p>\n

HOW DID SEQUINS APPEAR?<\/p>\n

When speaking about the glittering clothes, the first to come to mind are Indian beauties who generously decorate their saris with shining elements. Given the long age of the existence of the nation, it may well turn out that sequins were invented in that part of the world. Moreover, the researchers point out that the \u201cpredecessors\u201d of these round shining particles were fish scales and beetle wings, and only then people learned to make \u201cglitters\u201d artificially.<\/p>\n

And then a world trade stepped in. Merchants brought the Indian miracle to the eastern countries, the wives of wealthy sheikhs and belly dancers began to sew them onto their outfits, and then, during the period of popularization of oriental culture, sequin embroidery came to Europe – and did not disappear.<\/p>\n

HOW DID SEQUINS COME BACK TO FASHION?<\/p>\n

As is clear from the previous paragraph, shining elements have never gone out of fashion. But of course, like any trend, sequins have had their ups and downs.<\/p>\n

The first wave of general love for shiny elements emerged in the 16th century. They were ubiquitous on dresses, handbags and fans of court ladies in England and France. By the way, the word \u201csequin\u201d originated from the French language: in translation, this means \u201cbrilliant grain of sand\u201d.<\/p>\n

The next wave of popularity was the 19th century with its romanticism and love for dark colors: any embroidery and decor looked especially impressive on such fabrics.<\/p>\n

Then beads and sequins returned to the era of modern and art deco, then shone in the cinema during the old Hollywood days, hit all the dance floors of the disco-eighties, survived the pink wave of the early two thousandths.<\/p>\n

It means girls bought sequins at a time when they wanted to have fun and shine. What is happening now? In addition to the desire to have fun, modern fashion is characterized by borrowing – the trends of a certain era come back to fashion every now and then. Now the fashion of the seventies, eighties and nineties are again on their peak \u2013 that\u2019s why the sequins are back again.<\/p>\n

HOW TO WEAR SEQUINS CORRECTLY?<\/p>\n

So, how to buy a dress in sequins to look modern, and not vulgar? We have some tips!<\/p>\n

Subdued color scheme. Choose the classics: black, bronze, gold, silver shades of sequins, or sequins of any delicate shades.<\/p>\n

Not appliqu\u00e9, but whole embroidery. In order not to look vulgar, choose a piece without a separate decor with rhinestones. It is better to choose clothes entirely covered with “scales”.<\/p>\n

Choose only one piece of clothing with sparkling particles. If this is a skirt, combine it with a plain top, if you choose a clutch – then there should not be any beads on the other clothes. Stylists even offer to choose matte tights for such a look!<\/p>\n

Make your outfit more relaxed. In order not to look too glamorous, combine clothes in sequins with sneakers, Cossack boots, hoodies and sweatshirts.<\/p>\n
