Summer is in full swing, and if you need a fresh photo session for Instagram, Kyiv is a perfect choice with its abundance of various locations! For both locals and guests of the capital, I‘ll share the places where you can take the most juicy shots, and recommend how to choose a look for a photoshot.
OLD CENTER IN THE GOLDEN GATE AREA
In summer, it’s time to walk around the city, eat ice cream and giggle with your girlfriends. The old quarters in the Golden Gate area are best suited for this: just go straight along Yaroslaviv Val, and then turn back and forth! As for the look, I advise you to choose palazzo trousers, a corset, an elongated jacket and an abundance of accessories. A bonus for the attentive ones will be the Kyiv cycle track, which is not so far from the Golden Gates, and a beautiful little park next to it. There is a magnificent mural, by the way!
BOTANICAL GARDEN
The botanical garden, of course, looks most beautiful in spring, during the flowering period, but in summer there are very nice paths, cozy corners and a lot of greenery. Also, it is worth getting into the greenhouse – there is an extremely beautiful jungle! This location is perfect for photos in floral print dresses, leopard jumpsuits, delicate slip dresses and safari-style suits with shorts and a jacket.
FIELDS, FIELDS
If you go a little outside the city, you can find not only forests and trails. You can get to the poppy fields near Irpin and the fields of cornflowers near Brovary, but in July we are waiting for huge bright sunflowers and green spicules of wheat! However, you should be well prepared for such a trip for photographs: put on unpretentious jeans or shorts with a T-shirt, and take a fairy dress or light-colored sundress with you. You need to take precautions for good reason: on the field you are 28 times more likely to get dirty than at a street food festival!
MINI COFFEE SHOPS IN PODIL
There are a lot of historical, fascinating and simply lovely places on Podil where you can sit comfortably in the summer heat or take a walk looking at the houses. At the same time, you don’t have to be an elegant princess: if you want, put on a short dress and sandals, choose jeans or even a tracksuit. The culture of Podil is quite informal, so the more unusual you look on Kontraktova Square, the sooner you will find like-minded people.
KYIV SEA
If you need photos against the background of big water and sunset, it is not necessary to go to Odessa. On the left bank of the Kyiv reservoir there are simply stunning points with sandy beaches and direct access to the water. Grab a flowing maxi dress made of lightweight fabric, a blanket, a hat and wine for a picnic. The evening will be chic, as well as the photo session in a dress!
