It was the first magazine where not illustrations, but photographed pictures of accessories and clothes were presented. And although at that time the attitude towards fashion photographers was skeptical (one of the first female glossy photographers, Lillian Bassman, was once addressed with the phrase “You are not here to create; you are here to show buttons and bows”), a lot has changed since then. Today, fashion photographers are friends with the top stars, their work is highly paid and is considered very prestigious.

Frenchwoman Mariel Hadan (the real name of the photographer) is 78 years old today, and she has long been considered a classic of modern photography. In the sixties, she was a popular model, but it seemed to her that this was not enough. Creativity inspired her to stand on the other side of the lens one day – and she still shoots since then! Now she almost does not make commercial work, completely surrendering to creativity, but her artistic vision is noticeable in everything she touches.
How does the legend of photography dress? Her whole look is the epitome of French chic: men’s shirts, coats and jackets, straight jeans or classic trousers, tousled hair and stylish glasses – voila, the look is ready!

The name of this American woman is on everyone’s lips – she became famous for shooting world-class celebrities for fashion magazines. Remember the portrait of a young DiCaprio with a swan? And the picture of Demi Moore eight months pregnant? And the famous photo of John Lennon and Yoko Ono? Yes, it’s Annie.
As the American admits, she is a quiet and modest person, and therefore she prepares for each shooting for a very long time, studies the life of the model and tries to find a common language. This is the secret of success – even Queen Elizabeth easily took off her crown at Annie’s first request, she seemed so sweet to her. Annie’s modest nature is also noticeable in her appearance – denim shirts, jumpsuits, turtlenecks and low-soled boots form the basis of her wardrobe.
INEZ VAN LAMSWEERDE – MODERN CLASSICS
Inez was born in Amsterdam in the family of a fashion photographer, so she was familiar with the world of fashion from the early childhood. She gained worldwide fame when she began working in tandem with Vinoodh Matadin, who later became her husband.
Their pictures are bright and surreal, for which they were repeatedly criticized by one part of fashion critics, and completely loved by another. Interestingly, in real life, Inez is very far from sequins, rhinestones and bright colors. The style of this fatal brunette is a perfect example of modern classics. She wears skinny jeans and tight trousers, white blouses of all kinds, fitted jackets and little black dresses. It’s easy to recreate, right?
SASHA SAMSONOVA – HOLLYWOOD STYLE FROM UKRAINE
If you are subscribed to at least one representative of the Kardashian clan on social networks, you have probably heard this name already. Sasha Samsonova was born in Uzhgorod, grew up in Kyiv, and only in 2014 she moved to the United States. And when Kylie Jenner chose a photographer for her 18th birthday, her choice fell on Sasha. The girl, as it is said, woke up famous: now she makes glamorous shootings for world celebrities, shoots music videos and is not going to stop.
How does she dress in real life? She can often be seen in shirts and jeans, wearing oversized clothes and dark lipstick.
